“How did you know that you loved him?” I asked.
She went silent for a moment, thinking about what she wanted to say.
“He was my sun. He made me feel a warmth inside of myself that I could never feel from anything else. It was like flowers were blooming inside of my chest. When we were together, his love radiated on to me and I couldn’t help but grow from that. I wanted to be a better person for him, because he gave me all the love and support needed to do so. All my life I had been falling in love with people I could live with, but when he came around I had finally found someone I couldn’t live without. He was my one.” She chuckled while a tear rolled down her cheek.
The thought of meeting someone like you
keeps me going on each and every day.
It’s someone like you who keeps my heart in a constant leap,
reminds me that i have loved
that i can still love again.
It is the thought of you that brings me so much pain,
a pain that still makes me smile
just by knowing it happened,
that it was real.
That’s how i know that i am truly alive
because it is the thought of you that i am who i am today
and i can only thank you for everything that you were to me,
that you still are to me
and that will always be.
A long walk.
There’s something about a day spent walking that brings thoughts to me. A day spent walking feels like a day that stretches as long as the distance is far. It is where the twists and turns that the path reveals with each step feel like those in which life takes you on each and every day. Have you ever wondered how they often seem alike to you?
How a straight path guides you to what you can see clearly and safely up ahead. How one that twists and turns can make you dizzy with wonder at what’s in front of you. How sudden a corner can creep up to you and is there before you even know it. What’s more is the corner in which forks in two directions before you’ve even decided. And what to do with those paths that end with what seemingly feels like nowhere else to go. But i think what’s most unsettling, are those that lead you back to where you began, as if you’d never left the place you stand; but the night falls still, none a wiser to where you’d hoped to go.
There’s something about a day spent walking that brings thoughts to me. How i wonder so often where the path will take me.
It’s interesting what you choose to keep when packing up your whole life.
Rummaging through all this stuff you’ve collected over the years, stuff that just sits there and brings you no joy and no memories.
But then there are those rare moments where through the shadows of all this stuff, you see something that looks and feels like it’s alive. It talks to you not through sound but directly to your heart. “How can this be possible” you ask, and as you hold it in your very hands, you now understand how it can be so; and so you bring it up against your heart, almost as if not to lose something that has always been with you from the very beginning.

It is the thought of you,
that keeps my heart beating
through my chest.
The thought of you,
that keeps me warm at night
as I roll myself into bed.
The thought of you,
that makes me smile away
at random times throughout the day.
The thought of you,
and most importantly
You and me
dancing in the rain,
singing along to something sweet,
sweeping each other off our feet.
It really is the thought of you I think,
that makes life worth living.
Because it is with you
that my life
It’s hard waiting for that someone that can make you feel this way. But in my sleep and dreams it is something I can only hope to imagine right now in my life. I hope we all find that special someone that we can share this feeling with, and when we do, know how truly lucky we are to have it 🙂
Think far ahead of your time
Where are you?
What do you see?
What gives your life purpose?
Who are the people that are still in your life?
What beliefs have you held onto and which have you left behind?
And the good habits that you have kept?
The morals that have shaped you?
Think about it deeply
Who are you really?
Imagine your life
I believe that if you can envision where you want to be in life 30, 40 or 50 years ahead of time, it will be achievable no matter what life’s circumstances. The little bumps in the road that you face today are truly nothing when pit against the possibilities of what you are after. As long as you keep that dream in mind and the choices you make are chosen with your heart and the feelings within your gut, you cannot fail.
For each an every one of us is guided by the universe and it’s signs. Some would call them our good omens or the Karma in which we balance our world, just like the Yin and Yang; others would swear the existence of our own guardian angels who protect us and guide us through this life. Whatever it may be, the sheer belief in the possibilities is what makes life worth living.
“When you want something, all the universe conspires in helping you to achieve it” – Paulo Coelho
Thanks for reading ❤ and keep on believing!
It’s always been true
You have these great big wings
Of the many who saw could not help themselves but sing
Gleaming white, sparkling with feathers so clear and shiny
Unable to shift for there are ropes that grasp them tightly
A feather escapes by breaking from its owners mask
Through the thousand hands that hold their grasp
And It fills you with hope
For a moment there it reminded you
of who you were and what’s now new
It changes colour, it darkens and withers and like the autumn leaves
It dies away
At this, you watch and see
Reflected in the only mirror that’s anywhere near
Repeated a thousand times
Until you are all but mine
Post poem thoughts:
- Who are we talking about when they say “You”?
- What do the wings, ropes, feathers and mask represent?
- Why is it a reflection from a mirror?
- And who is the person behind the camera when it says “until you are all but mine”?
